I'm teaming with Laura from Differentiation Station Creations, who is seriously a math whiz!
She was kind enough to send me her Snowballs: Counting, Interactive Playdoh Mats and Printables.
We used the included numeral cards to show each number. I plan to step this up a notch by having them represent each number in multiple ways. Right now in math, we are learning about "hidden partners," or ways to make each number by adding two numbers together. To further develop this skill, we will use our play-doh mats to make each number using two different colors of play-doh.
Recognizing numbers using ten frame cards is also one of our math focuses, so I was happy that Laura included these ten frame cards!
We also worked on modeling some addition problems using these addition cards.
Plus, we worked on forming each number and adding that many manipulatives to the mat. You could easily use play-doh balls to represent each number, but I just happened to have these snowflakes that I purchased last year at the Dollar Tree.
Laura also included a variety of printables to extend the play-doh learning! These are going to be great "exit tickets," so that I can determine if my kiddos are understanding each concept!
Here's a little sneak peek at Laura's Christmas Trees set! Eek! I love me some Christmas fun!
Hats off to Laura for creating such comprehension and interactive play-doh activities! I love that I can combine play-doh with other math manipulatives to bring number sense to life! Believe me... my kiddos are all begging to have a turn at the "play-doh center," as they call it! Little do they know... they are actually building number sense, as well as developing fine motor and sensory skills! Check out how this little sweetie used his subitizing skills to count the ornaments!
Because I am so excited about using her sets in my room, Laura is giving away her Interactive Play Dough Mat Bundle! Enter the rafflecopter below for a chance to win! Just a little heads up... I'll be giving away one bundle on my Facebook page, One Sharp Bunch, so make sure you head over there to enter too!
